| In 1812 two sons of Remmelt Roeberts` younger brother Antony Roeberts - Robert Antonijs (b.1755) and Hendrik Antonijs (b.1764) - had their families` surname legally changed to "van Lenthe". This would hardly have been an overnight decision and I would suggest that the family for some time already went by that family name, if only because their father Antony was born in Lenthe. Since Remmelt Roeberts was also born in Lenthe I`m suggesting the likelihood that his sons might have done the same thing, with his son Roebert also taking on the family name "van Lenthe" (or the alternate spelling "Lente", as the case might be) |
